RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) often have an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. The purpose of this study was to explore the prevalence and characteristics of GDM in Xi'an from 2015 to 2021 since the implementation of China's "Two-Child policy" and to provide a clinical basis for the management of GDM. METHODS: We analyzed the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) results of 152,836 pregnant women who underwent routine prenatal examination at the Northwest Women and Children's Hospital from 2015 to 2021. Additionally, we analyzed the GDM prevalence and characteristics. RESULTS: The prevalence of GDM in the Xi'an urban area was 24.66% and exhibited an increasing trend annually (χ2 for trend = 43.922, p < 0.001) and with age (χ2 for trend = 2527.000, p < 0.001). Consistent with this, the proportion of pregnant women aged 18-25 and 26-30 years decreased significantly with the annual growth (χ2 for trend = 183.279, p < 0.001 and χ2 for trend = 33.192, p < 0.001, respectively). The proportion of pregnant women aged 31-35 and 36-42 years increased gradually annually (χ2 for trend = 134.436, p < 0.001and χ2 for trend = 44.403, p < 0.001, respectively). Of the pregnant women diagnosed with GDM, 71.15% (65.05-74.95%) had abnormal fasting plasma glucose (FPG) values. The highest percentage of patients had a single abnormal OGTT value (68.31%; 65.77-70.61%), followed by two (20.52%; 18.79-22.55%) and three (11.17%; 10.11-11.85%) abnormal values (FPG and 1-h and 2-h plasma glucose (PG). CONCLUSION: The prevalence of GDM among pregnant women in Xi'an region was high, and it had a increasing trend over the period from 2015 to 2021. Notably, the proportion of elder pregnant women, aged 31-42 years, presented a significant rise after the implementation of the universal two-child policy. On the basis of the high incidence of GDM among elder pregnant women and the high rate of abnormal OGTT values (numbe ≥ 2) in pregnant women diagnosed with GDM, the management of GDM should be intensified, and relevant departments should pay more attention to pregnant women of advanced age.

RESUMO

In this paper, a parallel quadrupedal robot was designed that is capable of versatile dynamic locomotion and perception-less terrain adaptation. Firstly, a quadrupedal robot with a symmetric legs and a powerful actuator was implemented for highly dynamic movement. Then, a fast and reliable method based on generalized least square was proposed for estimating the terrain parameters by fusing the body, leg, and contact information. On the basis of virtual model control (VMC) with the quadratic program (QP) method, the optimal foot force for terrain adaptation was achieved. Finally, the results obtained by simulation and indoor and outdoor experiments demonstrate that the robot can achieve a robust and versatile dynamic locomotion on uneven terrain, and the rejection of disturbances is reliable, which proves the effectiveness and robustness of this proposed method.

RESUMO

Background: Mycoplasma pneumoniae (Mp) is an important pathogen that causes respiratory tract infections in children. Data on epidemiology of paediatric Mp infection in China are little known. The aim of this study was to investigate the infection of children with respiratory tract infection in Xi'an from 2017 to 2020, and to explore the epidemiological features of paediatric Mp infection in Northwest China during the past 4 years. Methods: A total of 53,273 paediatric patients diagnosed with respiratory tract infection as the first diagnosis were enrolled. Mp antibody was detected using passive agglutination method. Statistical analysis and epidemiological investigation were carried out on the test results according to different years, seasons, ages and genders. The differences among rates were analyzed by the χ2 test. The trends among the rates were analyzed by the Poisson regression. Results: A total of 14,375 Mp antibody positive patients were detected, with a total positive rate of 26.98%. The rate of Mp infection in 2017 was significantly higher than other years (χ2=431.700; P=0.000), and the rate showed a downward trend year by year [incidence rate ratios (IRR) =0.906; 95% CI: 0.892-0.921; P=0.000]. The rate of Mp infection increased gradually in the order of spring, summer, autumn and winter (IRR =1.078; 95% CI: 1.060-1.097; P=0.000), and peaked in winter (29.08%). As age increased, the positive rate of Mp infection also gradually increased (IRR =1.138; 95% CI: 1.134-1.143; P=0.000). The peak age of Mp infection was between 6 and 12 years, accounting for 51.71%, significantly more compared with other age groups (χ2=4203.000, P=0.000). Female children had significantly higher positive rates than male children (χ2=527.000; P=0.000). Conclusions: Mp infection mainly occurs related to year, season, age and gender. Understanding the epidemiological characteristics of paediatric Mp infection can contribute to timely treatment and diagnosis, and may improve the prognosis of children with Mp infection.

RESUMO

A novel enamovirus was identified in common bean plants with disease symptoms. Its genome of 5,781 nucleotides (nt) contains five open reading frames. This virus and other members of the genus Enamovirus share 50.4-68.4% nucleotide sequence identity in the complete genome and 19.9-51.9% amino acid sequence identity in the P0 protein, 24.9-52.5% in P1, 33.4-62.9% in P1-P2, 30.6-81.1% in P3, and 32.3-74.2% in P3-P5. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the virus is most closely related to alfalfa enamovirus 1 and pea enation mosaic virus 1 in the genus Enamovirus of the family Solemoviridae. These results suggest that this virus, tentatively named "bean enamovirus 1", should be classified as a member of a new species in the genus Enamovirus.

RESUMO

The jumping motion of legged robots is an effective way to overcome obstacles in the rugged microgravity planetary exploration environment. At the same time, a quadruped robot with a manipulator can achieve operational tasks during movement, which is more practical. However, the additional manipulator will restrict the jumping ability of the quadruped robot due to the increase in the weight of the system, and more active degrees of freedom will increase the control complexity. To improve the jumping height of a quadruped robot with a manipulator, a bio-inspired take-off maneuver based on the coordination of upper and lower limbs is proposed in this paper. The kinetic energy and potential energy of the system are increased by driving the manipulator-end (ME) to swing upward, and the torso driven by the legs will delay reaching the required peak speed due to the additional load caused by the accelerated ME. When the acceleration of ME is less than zero, it will pull the body upward, which reduces the peak power of the leg joints. Therefore, the jumping ability of the system is improved. To realize continuous and stable jumping, a control framework based on whole-body control was established, in which the quadruped robot with a manipulator was a simplified floating seven-link model, and the hierarchical optimization was used to solve the target joint torques. This method greatly simplifies the dynamic model and is convenient for calculation. Finally, the jumping simulations in different gravity environments and a 15° slope were performed. The jump heights have all been improved after adding the arm swing, which verified the superiority of the bio-inspired take-off maneuver proposed in this paper. Furthermore, the stability of the jumping control method was testified by the continuous and stable jumping.

RESUMO

Aiming at highly dynamic locomotion and impact mitigation, this paper proposes the design and implementation of a symmetric legged robot. Based on the analysis of the three-leg topology in terms of force sensitivity, force production, and impact mitigation, the symmetric leg was designed and equipped with a high torque density actuator, which was assembled by a custom motor and two-stage planetary. Under the kinematic and dynamic constraints of the robot system, a nonlinear optimization for high jumping and impact mitigation is proposed with consideration of the peak impact force at landing. Finally, experiments revealed that the robot achieved a jump height of 1.8 m with a robust landing, and the height was equal to approximately three times the leg length.

RESUMO

Persistent-luminescence phosphors (PLPs) have a wide variety of applications in the fields of photonics and biophotonics due to their ultralong afterglow lifetime. However, the existing PLPs are charged and recharged with short-wavelength high-energy photons or inconvenient and potentially risky X-ray beams. To date, deep tissue penetrable NIR light has mainly been used for photostimulated afterglow emission, which continues to decay and weaken after each cycle, Herein, a new paradigm of trap energy upconversion-like near-infrared (NIR) to near-infrared light rejuvenateable persistent luminescence in bismuth-doped calcium stannate phosphors and nanoparticles is reported. In contrast to the existing PLPs and persistent-luminescence nanoparticles, the materials enable the occurrence of a reversed transition of the carriers from a deep-level energy trap to a shallow-level trap upon excitation by low-energy NIR photons. Thus these new materials can be charged circularly via deep-tissue penetrable NIR photons, which is unable to be done for existing PLPs, and emit afterglow signals. This conceptual work will lay the foundation to design new categories of NIR-absorptive-NIR-emissive PLPs and nanoparticles featuring physically harmless and deep tissue penetrable NIR light renewability and sets the stage for numerous biological applications, which have been limited by current materials.

RESUMO

Metazoans harbor a wealth of symbionts that are ever-changing the environment by taking up resources and/or excreting metabolites. One such common environmental modification is a change in pH. Conventional wisdom holds that symbionts facilitate the survival and production of their hosts in the wild, but this notion lacks empirical evidence. Here, we report that symbiotic bacteria in the genus Enterococcus attenuate the oviposition avoidance of alkaline environments in Drosophila. We studied the effects of alkalinity on oviposition preference for the first time, and found that flies are robustly disinclined to oviposit on alkali-containing substrates. This innate repulsion to alkaline environments is explained, in part, by the fact that alkalinity compromises the health and lifespan of both offspring and parent Drosophila. Enterococcus dramatically diminished or even completely reversed the ovipositional avoidance of alkalinity in Drosophila. Mechanistically, Enterococcus generate abundant lactate during fermentation, which neutralizes the residual alkali in an egg-laying substrate. In conclusion, Enterococcus protects Drosophila from alkali stress by acidifying the ovipositional substrate, and ultimately improves the fitness of the Drosophila population. Our results demonstrate that symbionts are profound factors in the Drosophila ovipositional decision, and extend our understanding of the intimate interactions between Drosophila and their symbionts.

RESUMO

Load capacity is an important index to reflect the practicability of legged robots. Existing research into quadruped robots has not analyzed their load performance in terms of their structural design and control method from a systematic point of view. This paper proposes a structural design method and crawling pattern generator for a planar quadruped robot that can realize high-payload locomotion. First, the functions required to evaluate the leg's load capacity are established, and quantitative comparative analyses of the candidates are performed to select the leg structure with the best load capacity. We also propose a highly integrated design method for a driver module to improve the robot's load capacity. Second, in order to realize stable load locomotion, a novel crawling pattern generator based on trunk swaying is proposed which can realize lateral center of mass (CoM) movement by adjusting the leg lengths on both sides to change the CoM projection in the trunk width direction. Finally, loaded crawling simulations and experiments performed with our self-developed quadruped robot show that stable crawling with load ratios exceeding 66% can be realized, thus verifying the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.

RESUMO

Trivalent terbium-doped oxycarbonate (La2O2CO3:1%Tb3+) one-dimensional nanorods are synthesized via a facile precipitation method. The average length of La2O2CO3:1%Tb3+ nanorods is 184.5 nm. Doping Tb3+ ions led to several visible emission peaks at 486 nm, 542 nm, and 587 nm under excitation of 258 nm wavelength light. The green afterglow at 542 nm can be detected almost 600 s after ceasing the UV-light irradiation. It can be calculated that the La2O2CO3:1%Tb3+ sample has one shallow trap depth (E = 0.848 eV) by measuring the thermoluminescence. All the results indicate that a simple precipitation method can synthesize a one-dimensional nanorod with green persistent luminescence.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND The ADRB2 gene encodes the ß2-adrenergic receptor (ß2-AR). This study aimed to determine the association between the C79G polymorphism of the ADRB2 gene and its association with pediatric asthma using a meta-analysis of the published data. MATERIAL AND METHODS Review of publications up to May 2018 was from the PubMed, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and WanFang databases. The odds ratio (ORs) with 95% confidence interval (CI) were used in evaluating the strength of the reported association between the C79G polymorphism of the ADRB2 gene and pediatric asthma. RESULTS There were 18 controlled studies that included 2,982 pediatric cases of asthma and 2,651 controls. Expression of the C79G polymorphism of the ADRB2 gene was significantly associated with risk of pediatric asthma associated with the C or G allele with comparison of the co-dominant model (GG vs. CC: OR, 0.69; 95% CI, 0.55-0.88) and the recessive model (GG vs. CC+CG: OR, 0.65; 95% CI, 0.53-0.81). Subgroup analysis by ethnicity showed a significantly reduced risk of pediatric asthma in Asian patients for comparison of the co-dominant model (GG vs. CC: OR, 0.59; 95% CI, 0.45-0.78), the recessive model (GG vs. CC+CG: OR, 0.58; 95% CI, 0.45-0.76), and the allelic model (G vs. C: OR, 0.89; 95% CI, 0.79-0.99). CONCLUSIONS The C79G polymorphism of the ADRB2 gene encoding ß2-AR was associated with a reduced risk for the development of pediatric asthma, particularly in the Asian population.

RESUMO

Abstract Objectives: The increase in the prevalence of obesity presents a significant health and economic problem. Obesity has been reported to be a major contributor to variety of chronic diseases. Childhood obesity has been rising over the past decades leading to various complications in health. Millions of infants and children undergo surgery every year on various health grounds. The present investigation was undertaken to evaluate the effect of spinal anesthesia of equipotent doses of ropivacaine and bupivacaine on over-weight neonatal rats. Methods: The Sprague-Dawley rat pups were overfed on high fat diet to induce obesity. Behavioral assessments for sensory and motor blockade was made by evaluating thermal and mechanical withdrawal latencies at various time intervals following intrathecal injections of bupivacaine (5.0 mg·kg-1) and ropivacaine (7.5 mg·kg-1) in P14 rats. Spinal tissue was analyzed for apoptosis by determination of activated caspase-3 using monoclonal anti-activated caspase-3 and Fluoro-Jade C staining. Long-term spinal function in P30 rat pups was evaluated. Results: Exposure to intrathecal anesthesia in P14 increased thermal and mechanical latencies and was observed to increase apoptosis as presented by increase in activated caspase-3 and Fluro-Jade C positive cells. Significant alterations in spinal function were observed in high fat diet-fed pups as against non-obese control pups that were on standard diet. Bupivacaine produced more pronounced apoptotic effects on P14 pups; ropivacaine however produced long lasting effects as evidenced in motor function tests at P30. Conclusion: Ropivacaine and bupivacaine induced spinal toxicity that was more pronounced in over-fed rat pups as against normal controls.

The cDNA sequence, their structure, physical properties, signal peptide, hydrophobicity, hydrophilicity, subcellular localization domain of transmembrane domain and evolutionary relationship of encoded amino acid sequences were analyzed in squalene synthase of 9 species of ginseng plant using bioinformatics methods on GenBank. The results showed that the averaged similarity of squalene synthase cDNA sequence structure in Ginseng species was 96.245%, the similarity of the amino acid encoding sequence was 95.5%. The secondary structure prediction results showed that the amino acid sequence of 9 squalene synthase had α helix and random coil as the main components. After the phylogenetic analysis in 9 kinds of ginseng species, we found that they can be divided into two subfamilies. The analysis showed that plants, animals, yeasts belonged to different species, the homology was high within plant species and animal species. By analyzing the ginseng species squalene synthase and their encoding gene bioinformatics features, we can provide the theoretical reference for the squalene synthase gene cloning and the genetic manipulation.

RESUMO

This paper summarizes the main achievements about the structure-activity relationships of anthocyanidin glycosylation. Anthocyanidin glycosylation is the essential step of anthocyanin biosynthesis and also the prerequisite of the further modifications of anthocyanins, which is jointly characterized by the glycosylation site, the type and number of the glycosyl as well as the glycosidic bond type. It generally enhances the stability, results in the hypsochromic effect and blueing, decreases the bioavailability and anticancer activity, and decreases, increases, or does not change the antioxidant activity of the anthocyanidins or anthocyanins, which is synergetically determined by the glycosylation site and the type and number of the glycosyl. Thereinto, in nature, the blue hues caused by the glycosylation may also be reinforced by the formation of the anthocyanic vacuolar inclusions. This review could provide a reference for the research of the structure-optimizing and function-exploiting of anthocyanins.
